Israel’s New Gaza Ceasefire Proposal Faces Pessimistic Response from Hamas
Mediators Egypt and Qatar have submitted a revised Israeli ceasefire (प्रस्ताव) to Hamas, according to Egypt’s Al Qahera News on Monday. However, senior Hamas figures have already raised serious (आपत्तियाँ), saying parts of the offer are unacceptable.
Hamas later confirmed that it is reviewing the proposal and will provide its official response soon. The group reiterated its key condition: a permanent end to the war in Gaza and a full withdrawal of Israeli forces.
Senior Hamas official Sami Abu Zuhri told Reuters that the latest draft failed to meet this fundamental requirement. He also rejected a new Israeli demand included in the proposal—calling for Hamas to disarm in a future phase of the negotiations.
“Giving up our weapons is not up for discussion,” Abu Zuhri stated firmly, calling it a “million red lines.”
Israel has not issued any public comment on the ceasefire.

The head of Egypt’s state information service told Al Qahera that Hamas is aware of the urgency and expects a swift reply to the offer.
The renewed push for a ceasefire follows Israel’s resumption of its offensive in Gaza in March, ending a previous (संधि) that began in late January. Talks in Cairo on Monday ended without any progress, according to sources on the Palestinian and Egyptian sides.

Hamas continues to insist that Israel must commit to a full withdrawal and an end to military operations as part of any deal—terms laid out in the original three-phase ceasefire agreement. Israel, on the other hand, maintains that it won’t stop fighting until Hamas is dismantled and all hostages are freed.
Abu Zuhri said Hamas is willing to release all remaining hostages in a single exchange – if Israel ends the war and exits Gaza.
Since Israel resumed its military campaign last month, more than 1,500 Palestinians have been killed, according to Gaza health authorities. Tens of thousands more have been displaced, and Israel has restricted the entry of aid and supplies into the enclave. Currently, 59 Israeli hostages remain in Gaza, though Israel believes only 24 are still alive.
